All: End of the Earth

We made it to Ushuaia today and felt very excited to be in the southernmost city in the world. We spent the afternoon at the Tierra del Fuego National Park. What had originally been planned as a 4-hour hiking trip became a 3-hour driving trip. We enjoyed it and we have no doubt that Miguel, our taxi driver, was an expert on the park. Too bad everything he said was in Spanish.

Other highlights:
Warren learning that you can get to an airport an hour before a flight and still get on the plane. Warren's comment after getting moved to the business-class/priority line: "So they just reward people who are late?" E.B.'s comment: "When I say I fly priority this is always what I meant."

Warren giving up on scenic landscapes and asking where the trash dump was located "because that's where all the birds hang out."

The discovery that there is a Roger Harper on our cruise ship and Whitney's comment "if you marry him, E.B., you won't even have to change your name." Already thankful our genealogy records are up to date.

Why just spend New Year's Eves together? Family Valentine's Days are totally underrated.

So far the two annoying people on our flight have not appeared at our hotel.

Learning that there is darkness at the South Pole at this time of year (9:09PM sunset, 6:24AM sunrise), excitement over how beautiful the stars will be.

Kristin, the Alaska shout-out goes to you. Thank you for all your help with Smuggler!

  1. Thanks for the shout out! The sign is amazing, but now I really want to ask them which *part* of Alaska is 17,848km away. Smug says he misses you and he requests food. In the absence of food, trash will do nicely. Have fun!!!
